Hachuan Sekht... High Elf Lord on Griffon- no, High Elf Noble on Great Eagle!

I have been waiting about three years to paint the High Elf Lord on Griffon from the IoB boxed set, it's largely the reason I wen for a High Elf force in the first place. Sadly it would appear from the Armies Book that 1) there's absolutely no way to field a Griffon in the size army included in the box, making it a totally illegal force, 2) In an army where you can take a Lord on a Griffon, why would you? A few more points and you can take a Dragon. Sadly this is another instance of GW producing a pretty but totally unusable model to hook people. Well, it's staying in my army and counting as a Noble on a Great Eagle, a much more sensible choice I feel. This model was also an absolute bugger to paint. Because the rider and mount are all cast in one piece (well, four- two sides and two wings) it's virtually impossible to get into all the detail. You could paint it unassembled and then blend the joins, but I like to see what the model will look like whilst painting, it's be much easier if they just made the rider separate. The Reavers are the same. Also- plastic banners! What's with these horrible plastic flags and banners with their square, unnatural flowing and moulded designs which mean you can't easily apply your own? Humph. Rant over, I think he looks pretty good considering. Please excuse the dodgy photoshop!
